Ok, she loves dresses and I love her in dresses but she just can'y move around, ride bikes ,climb trees etc, they are all too long.
So my question is, how do you dress a gilr so she still looks pretty but practical?

why does she need to look pretty?

i think little girls look lovely in shorts/trousers and little t-shirts. on girls i like blues, greens, reds, yellows, oranges but no pastels.

My daughter has always preferred dresses to trousers and it has never stopped her doing anything. If the dresses are too long get her shorter ones. A knee length skirt doesn't interfere with running like the wind, riding a bike, scooting, hanging upside down from railings, climbing trees, going on climbing frames, hurtling down slides or any other activity suitable for a small child. She shows her knickers a lot, but she's very proud of them!

pretty pink leggings and shorter tee-shirt material dresses. Still pretty but great for doing 'stuff' in

H&M have this style off to a fine art.

tunics & jeans. t-shirt or denim dresses rather than frilly. bright leggings. girly boots.I agree that H&M is great for fun active girl stuff but also think most of the supermarkets do it well too. Also I find I dont mind DD playing in the park or garden in her pretty clothes that came from charity shops, ebay bundles or sale rails in asda/tesco/sainsburys. She has a couple of dresses saved for "best" but "best" days are rare.
