Ideas for nearly 4 YO plane bag!

We’re due a long haul flight with our nearly 4 YO. I’d like to pack her her own surprise rucksack for hand luggage and include some snacks / toys / books. Any recommendations on what’s worked for you that I could pop in her bag? X

The sticker books that are sticker by numbers to create a picture are great for my four year old. We also play the alphabet categories game whenever we are travelling although she sometimes goes off topic.
Apples are a great snack as they take ages to eat, I can’t think of anything else that is particularly time consuming to eat. Definitely nothing that is sugary and will have her climbing the walls.
Usborne books have some good sticker activity books where you have to create scenes and they give directions to follow that are great for four year olds.

Crayola Mess Free colouring sets.

Colouring pages and activity sheets you can print at home (Twinkl have ton of free online resources) plus Crayola Pip Squeak markers.

Mini magnetic tile sets (come in a small metal tin that your LO can use as a building base).

If you have a YOTO player, a new YOTO story card.

Travel chess or checkers set.

There’s a company called Keep Em Quiet that sells these kits, worth checking out for ideas on how to make your own surprise bag!

I’m already echoing some of the above. I have a nearly 4 year old too.
we’ve had success with:

  • little colouring sets from Primark which have the crayons, a “carry case” and stickers
  • Small reusable sticker books from Amazon
  • Mini travel magnatiles
  • Mini books from children’s advent calendars
  • Yoto mini
  • Small figures like the Bluey ones which are a couple of inches tall
  • Travel card games like uno junior or snap
For snacks we take mini breadsticks, kids oaty bars, rice cakes, some baby youghurts you don’t need to refrigerate and some treats like kinder bars for when we need a bribe!

A pack of post it notes kept DS amused for ages - drawing on them and then sticking them over himself/the seats/passing notes. Really simple but enjoyable.
