7 month old scared of cot??

I need help. My 7 month old has always been a mediocre sleeper but since an illness recently he just won’t sleep. I think it’s to do with sleep associations as we’ve rocked him to sleep and he’s slept in my bed at times.

last night he woke up every 45 mins and I can’t do that again. He’s a little better tonight but is hysterical when lowered into his cot. The minute he senses I’m about to put him down he howls, I’ve never heard him like this. When I pick him back up he’s ok.

has anyone had this and what can I do to move past this.

My son was the same in the end I brought a single bed and put a guard up the side and the other side joined to my bed. Not ideal but at least he slept great because he could see me and smell me.

Yup. Have a look at the safe sleep guidelines and have him in bed with you tonight.

Over the next few days during the day, put him into his cot with a favourite toy and you in the room. Try putting him down for naps in the cot (maybe the first one of the day?).

And reminding you how wonderful you’re doing and what a great mum you are.

It might also be separation anxiety beginning, sorry. He knows he's about to be left. We gave up about that point and started cosleeping.

Very normal! We got a floor bed as then you don't have to transfer them, and I could sleep there with her for some of the night. Sleep associations aren't bad. Wakes of that frequency could also suggests they are undertired and need less day sleep or later bedtime.

Thanks everyone, lots to think about! For the co-sleepers, how do you stay warm whilst keeping the duvet away from baby?

My eldest was like this, as though the cot was a punishment, if that makes sense?

I ended up buying a single bed way ahead of him being ready for a bed, with a bed guard, and used to sit at the end of the bed reading a book until he fell asleep, or I drifted off propped up with a pillow against the wall!

I stuck with cot blankets until I felt it was the right age to switch to a duvet. I had a kids duvet for me for warmth.

This wasn’t at all fun for me at the time (though I manage to read a few of the Harry Potter books ;)), but I look back now and how I actually miss how lovely it was (he’s 29!). 🤗
