Where do you do nappy changes when at home?

Hello. Just wondering where you do your nappy changes at home? I have been doing most of them on the living room floor and then leaving DD to have some nappy free time at every change, but she is now too active to do that so wondered about chaging her in her room every time on her changing table?

But she is quite a frequent girl when it comes to filling her nappy! So not sure if I could be bothered with keep going up stairs. But fed up of having everything in my tiny living room.

on mat on floor in dd's room - don't have a changing table.

couldn't face having nappy stuff all over the house and she liked the change of scene of going upstairs if we'd been hanging round the living room/kitchen all day.

ive got a changing mat complete with nappies, wipes and bags in DS's bedroom and one in the lounge too.

but my house is on four floors and my DS does about 5 poos a day so I'd drive myself mad if i didnt have two.

i keep everything on the changing mat and slide it under the sofa !!!!

(meant to add, we use real nappies so changing near the bucket is preferable)

I wouldn't put dd on a changing table now, she's far too active, I change her on the floor of the living room, but I keep all her things next door.

if just wee in nappy, can do on kitchen floor without mat or wipes - only need a new nappy, no bags etc as straight in kitchen bin

yousaidit · 20/06/2008 12:59

keep dd's changing bag in house dwnstairs and keep mat under sofa, so change her on room floor so when she crawls off with bare bum she's not flyng off changing table and all the stuff is to hand and tucked away!

Do you all change your kiddies in the lounge when you have visitors then?? I did (in front of my mum & Dad) and she commented upon it saying that x would be horrified and implied it should be done in the bathroom!!

lottyloon · 20/06/2008 13:03

definitely. its my house and if they dont like it they can look the other way... if its particularly pooey i do give a warning to vacate the room though!!!!

either downstairs in living room or upstairs in room depending if we are up or downstairs. i have a wicker basket type try downstairs with some nappies in, one of those travel wipes containers and a tube of nappy cream. it lives under a table in the corner of the room.

jessiesmummy · 20/06/2008 13:12

I used to keep all the nappy stuff in her change abg and would change her either upstairs or downs stairs depending on where we were. As for changing nappies in front of visitors if your going to see someone with a baby. What do you expect?!

jelliebelly · 20/06/2008 13:15

I always took ds upstairs to change him on the change table in his bedroom where everything was to hand. He used to enjoy the change of scene I think - different things to look at etc and also near to the bathroom for washing hands afterwards.

Must admit I've never been one for changing a baby in front of an audience - I wouldn't like to get stripped and changed in the front room with visitors there so I wouldn't do it to ds either.

I change nappies in the lounge when visitors are here (I have 2 kids in nappies). My house, my rules!

Have stuff upstairs and downstairs... just depends on where we are at the time.

Re visitors - if ds has filled his nappy and it was close family would just change him wherever - if friends etc then would probably take him upstairs - more out of poilteness than anything - he is particulary smelly at the moment and really wouldnt want to inflict that on anyone!!
