How do you keep track of your child's early milestones?

How do you capture the memories of the early development of your child? I loved looking back at my old childhood with my parents as they had curated a nice image folder, but it is a hassle to write everything down that's happening. Anyone else facing issues with this? Any good solutions?

By image folder do you mean digital photos ?
Can’t you just do the same ?
Take lots of photos and when you get time choose the best ones to create a digital folder yourself.
I’m confused about the written aspect of it , do you want to keep a diary ?

Just take lots of photos and if you feel up to it, get them printed and do a photo album. The baby diary things are cute but I didn't fill the ones out that people bought me, as I found it to be extra homework on top of being exhausted and depressed and the pressure to have it all perfect was unfair. Make note on your phone notes bit of when the baby does something major and that can be written into the photo album if required.

I've actually found social media fabulous for this

At the time they didn't do Facebook memories so I was just updating my ( very private less than 30 friends ) Facebook about my DD's milestones..... but a decade on I love it when things pop up

Also very very helpful as she has been diagnosed with autism and having things date stamped really helped too

Nice over the years as it shows everything we've been doing the previous years too. I should print it all out and put things into a nice book of some sort really

It's taking that time that produces the nice outcome.
You can write some bits in a notebook and print some photos out. But if you haven't time, you don't have to do this at all.

You can get printed cards that say a milestone - then when it happens put the card next to the baby and take a photo - then have a Google photos folder you can add other things to as well - something like that? You will have time to organise it more when they're older.

I meant for adding context to the photos. of course the obvious ones you remember, but you can capture so much more nowadays with a phone's camera so I was thinking if ppl have good setups for capturing also textual stuff/thoughts

so you'd prioritize just capturing as much as i can and worrying about organization later? thank you!
Seems like you may have experience so: do you feel like you captured enough?

If you use an app like instagram you can have text on the photos .

wasn’t this posted last week? Feels like the lead up to an ad

I use free prints, bought a nice big book, stuck them in, with dates and what happened.

Video and narrate what is happening, the date, time if necessary and what they are doing. I use my phone and then it pops up in memories with things like, "Can you believe it is 10 years since...".

Sometimes I am in selfie mode with a child next to me (now adults) and we talk into the camera. It isn't posted on social media because I don't post on social media, it is just for us and we can also share the photos/videos with the children to their shared photos.

Sometimes it is for remembering how to do stuff like pack the car for uni. I can add them to albums too in my photos. I have the house over the years because we have done a lot of work to it. Narrating the video gives it the context it needs. It isn't just about the children I mean.
