Pants for Preschool?

Hi Mums, I have zero mum friends so I’m coming here a bit stuck.

I’ve got my first child, he’s 2.5, and we’ve started potty training at home. He’s in pants during the day and nappies at night. He understands the idea of wee and the potty and will sometimes tell us he needs it, but most of the time he just wees through his pants on the floor.

I don’t want to go back to daytime nappies, so we’ve kept going with pants.

He’s going to preschool tomorrow, and it’ll be his first time there in pants while potty training (he normally goes in nappys ) He goes in 2 days a week. I’m really unsure what to do. Do I keep him in pants and send loads of spare clothes, or switch back to nappies just for preschool days?

Feeling a bit nervous and would really appreciate advice from anyone who’s done this.

I personally kept mine in pants and sent in loads of spares and her potty from home. Pull ups seemed to confuse her as she just assumed she could go in them rather than a 'just in case'.

Check with preschool. Doesn’t sound as if potty training is going particularly well if just weeing in pants

With both children I discussed with the preschool and said we are starting potty training. I started both during a holiday/half term. Then sent them in after the holiday with pants and lots of spare clothes.

Pants and lots of spare cloths, but have a word with staff to warn them and ask them to remind him to go. There probably will be accidents but it's kind of expected with 2yo's and doesn't last long. The staff will be very use to it

Lots of spare clothes and give them a warning. My top tip is to bag changes seperately so a pair of socks/ pants and joggers in a untied nappy bag.

Warn the staff. Lots and lots of spare joggers, pants and socks. Plus if possible, put him in crocs rather than shoes to avoid soggy shoes!!

Personally, I also sent some pull up nappies and told the staff it was at their discretion, if they thought it was not going well, I wouldn't mind if they put him back in a nappy... But they never did, - they have to wait for parents to take the lead, but they are mostly very keen to reinforce potty training.
