How much longer did it take to get pooing sorted?

Started potty training DD (3 next month) on Saturday. Tbh, I think she's been ready for some time and it's been much easier than I anticipated (7 hits and only 2 misses on day 1). She seems to have weeing almost sussed with only the occasional accident but pooing is a different matter. Earlier in the week it seemed like she didn't know she needed to go until she was almost doing it. Today,on 2 separate occasions she kept saying she needed a wee and would then do nothing and refused to sit and wait (several times in as many minutes) and then did a poo in her pants within minutes. At nursery today they told me that it often takes longer to master being clean than dry but how much longer? (I'm guessing this is like asking how long is a peice of string but I'm just looking for some reassurance! )

We've basically stayed at home all week apart from 2 mornings at nursery and a short trip to the park today (poo accidents at both) but was hoping to start rejoining normal life next week, however wary of pooing accidents in public places. Going back to nappies is not really an option given her age and how well she's doing at staying dry.

with my kids getting a small pressie everytime they pooed on the loo in the beginning really helped - a magazine, stickers, any small stocking filler toy

We've had a sticker chart which has been great but maybe it's time to up the stakes with some bigger bribery!

sticker charts never worked for us! - I just went for bigger bribery!!! my ds is nearly 3 & he got a comic this morning & I've lined up a car, stickers, car cards & an animal mag in readyness! He knows he'll get something so hopefully will make it to the loo!!

I think I'm going to be off shopping on Saturday! Friends have used chocolate/sweets as a reward but DD is not a big fan of either (clearly not her mother's daughter in that sense!). DD is mad about fruit so could reward her that way but I think that may exacerbate the pooing problem!!

I started ds2 at the end of feb when he was a week short of 3. All this time later and he is still incredably unreliable with poos. Have tried everything I can think of, he just likes the feel of poo in his pants

Had no probs at all with ds1, he got it earlier and was more reliable from the start. Only difference really was that I used disposables with ds 1 and cloth with ds2. Those 3 years of washing stinky nappies appears to have been for nothing !
