When does the ‘throwing everything’ stage end?

Because really, I’m getting quite fed up with it now! Essentially, it feels like all things are either immediately thrown (if he doesn’t want it), or eventually thrown (if he’s done playing with it).

His water bottle is thrown
Duplo bricks are thrown
Blocks are thrown
Tea set is thrown
Cars for the ramp game are thrown

Often, he will the go over the the items and throw them again. Sometimes I will say, oh, you don’t want it if you’re throwing it, so I’ll scoop the blocks/bricks up, which makes him sad.

I am getting to the end of my tether in regard to everything being chucked - often over his shoulder - and with increasing force!

How old are they when this stage ends please??

Ah the trajectory schema. Lots of ducking usually involved with that one! Grin

Have they got some things that might help them explore movement, like a simple train set, some paper aeroplanes and have you tried getting them to kick a ball? Or are they younger and just launching their food at the walls? Smile

To be honest, I would like to know when other posters have found this phase ends, rather than saying how old he is at this point(!) as I don’t want to skew any responses.

I will say, he has toys such as a ball drop tower, the car ramp, a car/vehicle fire station ramp as well. The balls, cars, vehicles do all get flung at some point though…

Lots of learning going on in the throwing stage, even if it is less fun for the parents. Once they can master new more interesting skills, throwing will get boring.

Oh yeah I remember this stage, followed by the getting in things stage which was better. I'm sorry I can't completely remember when it stopped but it was I think between 12 and 18 months.

I am so ready for it to be done!

My 13 yo still does it when he loses his temper!
