Any tips for a six-month-old who is fighting daytime naps?

Does anyone have any tips for my 6 month old fighting naps? We've had trouble with him fighting naps on and off since about 3 months really, but it's getting harder. As soon as we find something that works, it lasts about a week and then it's back to fighting. He's at the point now where I often can't hold him as he kicks and hits out, not wanting to sleep. For a while, just putting him down worked and he eventually fell asleep on his own, but now that doesn't work anymore. We have no problems at night time, it's just daytime naps. It's really draining and getting frustrating!
I know people mean well, but please don't tell me he's not tired enough. We've tried different lengths of wake windows, and he clearly is tired. I really think he just doesn't want to miss out on anything 😂.

If his nights are good i wouldnt stress over naps. Don’t worry about independent/cot naps; we never did them. Get out, enjoy your day and let baby nap in the pram or carrier when they want to.

DSIL and. DF had success with putting them down somewhere different, so a single bed with bed guards. Their DCs were both happy to sleep in there during the day but would fight sleep in their cots.

Have you tried both of you napping in your bed too, at least for the big nap?

Id also have a read of the No Cry Nap Solution.

You do have my sympathy though, my DC1 was a nap refuser.

People always say this as well 😂. I wouldn't mind him staying awake if he didn't get grumpy as hell 😂. And he won't nap in the pram anymore. The car always used to be guaranteed but now that is hit and miss as well!

Thanks, I'll have a look at that. After posting this, he's been asleep for over an hour 😂. They do love to throw you off and keep you on your toes! 😂

Does he sleep in the buggy or car? Can you just time it with going out?

With my dd the room had to be v v dark and quiet I also had a daytime routine similar to bedtime, milk, cuddle, put into a baby gro and baby sleeping bag etc.
