We have had an unsettled baby simce she was born. Seemed like reflux and we got meds for this, stopped vomiting and screaming after feeds but still v.unsettled. Then taken off meds cos seemed v.windy but still on ranitidine. Recently had a biopsy to check for reflux and allergy and results came back negative. Unfortunately is still unsettled at night and v.windy, any ideas? Has anyone had experience of gaviscon helping wind????

have a 2yr old who had severe reflux from birth and one medication till 1 year old. He has dairy allergy and intolerant to soya and egg. The cows milk formula made him in awful pain and the reflux worse. Basically he has been on nanny goats milk since around 4 months. Have you considered milk intollerance?

I was told that those with bad reflux generaly was mad worse by dairy.. wont do her any harm cutting it out for a week... see if any different?

Did try cuttting out dairy when younger and didnt notice a significant difference. However, since stopped bf in day put her on soya milk (she wouldnt take any of the others) which she tolerated okay. Consultant said that since no evidence of allergay to put on normal milk but have tried this and do feel it can make her worse. Consultant is so sure that this test would probably show an allergy but I dont think its a full allergy just maybe a bit of a sensitivity. basically she now gets little bits of dairy through butter and still bf at night, so maybe worth revisiting. Would probably be better if I could now cut out bf altogether so I didnt need to worry about my diary intake. Also a bit worried however that she is missing things in her diet cos we're so cautious all the time.

all dairy completely? It takes a while to get out of the system/ There was no 'evidence' that my ds had an allergy and i had to argue the toss for months with the paediatrician until i was sick of seeing ds in so much pain that he barely slept that i took it in my own hands and put him on goats. There was an improvement v quickly. An allergy and intollerant are 2 diff things and an intollerance dont show up on the bloods tests that they do at the hosp.

If ds has soya for eg (intollerant) he is very windy. Farts like a trooper! He only has to have a slice of normal bread for this to happen. Even if she was only having a small amount of dairy if she is intollerant to it she will still suffer the effects of it/ You should go on your instincts. I wish i had from day one.

FWIW i gave ds multivitamins syrup by adidec when he was small. I also give them to him when he isnt well

Thanks for mad4mybaby, interesting about soya and also white bread. That doesnt have dairy does it? although interestingly someone else mentioned white bread today. Did you get any advice on dietary things or just go with your own ideas?

soya is in so many things. Normal cut bread, french stick, rolls etc but both tesco and waitrose do one without. Alot of packet things like gravy granules have it in plus most sausages!

Just a thought..

Originally ds was under the dietician which was ok for a while. I weaned him early 17 weeks i think as the solids stayed down better than milk so we saw her for a while then after probably up to about 18 months but every time i went i didnt come back any better! So in the end as she had a food diary of him she said he was doing fine so i stopped going. He is restricted in what he can eat as he cant tolerate sheeps milk/cheese either. We use the Pure sunflower spread, just weaning him off the nanny goat onto delamere. He can tolerate a amall amount of goats yogurt but doesnt eat meals based on 'white/cheese sauce' as he doesnt like it. I would say to anyone go on your instinct. May well be worth going to HV or gp to get referral to dietician intially to get you started but dont get hung up on what they sayd as you know your dd best
