Honestly it looks like a fairy typical picture of a 4 year olds legs. Active small children are pretty much always covered in bruises.

Kingdomofsleep · 08/04/2026 07:58

I think all 4yos look like this tbh! My 5yo still does.

As long as you know how he's getting them (falling over rather than hit) I wouldn't give it a second thought.

Just had a look and my own knees have a few even. I think with any sort of running around you're bound to bash into stuff

DinosaurBlue · 08/04/2026 07:58

Yep. My just turned 5 year old is exactly the same. Bruises all over his legs!

That's completely normal for this age. Next time you get the accident form, ask the teacher if it's normal/common and she'll reassure you.

I'd actually be concerned if my kid never got any because then that means she's sitting in a corner not playing

H930 · 08/04/2026 08:31

Both my sons look like dalmatians - they are covered in spotty bruises on their legs from all the running about and climbing they do - totally normal for active young children as PP have said!

tempnew · 08/04/2026 08:35

Is he otherwise ok?

This is what my 4 year old's legs look like as of a minute ago. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he gained another one before I press 'Post'. This is normal. I remember his sister's legs were much the same. At this age they still run at full speed everywhere, and it's fairly inevitable they then bump into things (or each other) or trip over. Or they jump into/onto things.

Forgot the image. I had to pick up the 4 year old for a cuddle as he crashed into the kitchen door....

I'm still like that OP.

My carer frequently asks me what I have done when he notices a bruise, mostly I have no idea.

sociableintrovert123 · 08/04/2026 10:04

My DS was the same. These were his legs after a cub camp 🙈 He’s got less clumsy as he’s got older
