2.5yr sleep regression???

Anonpriv221 · 31/03/2026 05:33

My 2.5yr usually sleeps so well. Has had the same sleep routine since they was 8 months old. Sack, milk, bed and then they usually chatter on to themselves for 5 minutes before falling asleep and then sleeping through until 7am.

the last 4 nights have been hard. Getting upset when it’s time to get ready for bed, crying as soon as they’re lay down in cot and then screaming and crying hysterically until I go into the bedroom. Its taken over an hour every night to get them to sleep, with going in, patting back and lying them back down.

Im currently writing this as for the last hour, they’ve been bawling their eyes out wanting to get up. Will settle for 5-10 minutes then starts crying again.

Is this normal? Any tips or tricks to help?

yep, normal. Just stick to the routine as you normally
do. This too shall pass!

Yes normal. Do they still nap? It might be time to shorten the nap or cut entirely. This improved bedtime with our toddler.

I agree with pp that this might mean it's time to drop the nap.

Naps are hit and miss but if they do have one it’s usually a 30minute to 1hr max at 12pm

Naps are hit and miss, but never over an hour if they do have 1

It’s a very normal age to stop napping. If you want to keep the nap, I’d move bedtime later. Theyre upset as they’re not tired enough!

going to skip the nap today and see what happens tonight. Fingers crossed for sleep as I’ve only just survived my 4 month old having rsv and not sleeping!
