Living in Park Langley with young children: commute, schools and activities?

Hi!
we are looking to move to Park Langley area for schools but worried about commute. Is it the case that one of the parents is staying home and driving kids around and family back and forth to station? Would appreciate if you could share your experience living there. Are there activities for kids and toddlers? Have one in primary and a toddler. I’m afraid it might feel a bit lonely.

Nearest station is Beckenham junction. You can easily walk to the station from Park Langley. There’s a church and church hall (st George’s) in centre which may have baby toddler groups.

As above Beckenham Junction is nearest but if there's a driver in the household then you will have no problems at all with kids and toddler activities of all kinds, all across Bromley. Theres walkable activities in West Wickham and Beckenham. Bromley is an amazing place to live with kids.

That’s the thing, I would like to go back to work and we both work in City of London. Wondering how feasible that would be. Anyone doing it? It seems to be between West Wickham and Beckhenam Junction.

There are lots of buses!

It's very feasible. Public transport is good, train links are good, you can walk to a lot of places, great parks.

I only meant that if you drive, you have access to even more. But it would be totally fine if you didn't. You also have Eden Park and West Wickham stations depending on where you are.

Although, I feel like Park Langley isn't much of a place, it's a development, a couple of schools and a golf course. Can you be more specific about where you're looking? Are you are looking at the development, or just around PL?

The development is probably a bit cut off, like they all are, but if you're looking just around PL then you are going to end up falling in to either Hayes, Beckenham, or West Wickham. All of which are great, with good transport links.

Which roads ard you looking at, one end you've got kelsey park, which is easy for Beckenham junction, the other end you've got west Wickham with a swimming pool, in the middle top end you've got westmoreland rd and south woods with buses to bromley south or hayes.

There are less options from West Wickham, Eden Park also has staton:-

I’ve got friends with young families living in West Wickham, they like it a lot, cheaper than Beckenham I think, similar but older kids Eden Park and Beckenham. Nice suburban areas. Not hugely exciting but perfect for families.

Parks are good, Norman park is more Bromley, Beckenham place park is lovely, huge and has a farmers market, Kelsey Park is lovely too but more wildlife there, birds, squirrels, geese. Swimming pools are Beckenham Spa, Bromley the pavilion and a pool in West Wickham, there’s also a David Lloyd in Beckenham.

As pp said it’s not essential to drive, lots of buses around Beckenham, that go to Bromley and elsewhere, tram and then much of Beckenham is easily walkable as it’s fairly flat, apart from hilly area near St George’s church. You’re near Penge too which has some nice places to go.
