Four year old - warts!!! At wits end!

Evening all,

My poor four year old is suffering awfully with warts. I think he picked them up at preschool and because he’s got eczema, he’s more prone to these things because of having broken skin quite often (despite our best efforts!)

Anyway, he’s now peppered with the bastards. Mainly focussed on the backs of his knees, but also on his thighs, inner arms, back and, worst of all for discomfort, now on his scrotum too. He says the latter are really sore, and they look it too.

Anyway, nothing seems to be clearing them up. We tried waiting it out and they’re just spreading, he cried when we put Bazuka on saying it really hurt him (agin, the eczema doesn’t help!) and this can’t be used on nether regions anyway, I’ve tried apple cider vinegar but that made his skin sore too…

Help. Any and all suggestion welcome, please tell me what worked for you and your little ones! Ideally I want this sorted before September, one for his comfort but two because I don’t want him to be known as the kid with warts / the kid who so and so caught warts from etc!

Thanks in advance

Are you sure they are warts? Molluscum spread widely when scratched. Steroid cream can help with the itch if it is them.

Eczema is a sneaky fucker and shows up in all sorts of guises. Take him to the gp and get a referral to a dermatologist.

I thought this too. They look like small warts, spread quickly, last a while and were itchy for mine in their final stages...

Thank you all so much, I so appreciate the replies! Maybe it isn’t actually warts after all having looked up molluscum 🤔 promising that they were itchy in the final stages.
i think ill take him to the gp, yes, it’s so awfully sore looking on the backs of his knees, it’s miserable for him!

If its molluscum for mine the itching meant they scratched the tops off them, it looked pretty awful, but once that happens the body's immune system recognises them as foreign and sorts them out quickly. I let them scratch away- and all gone within a month of that stage. Hope its that for you OP.

If it is warts, and you’re willing to try an old wives tale, apparently Witch Hazel applied daily shifted mind (had them pretty bad as a kid)
