What am I doing wrong??

I have 4 month old twins and, without fail, every single day they’re leaking through their nappies, both pee and poop. Often I think it’s because of the car seat and a bit of compression leakage but we change them before we leave home and often whenever we get to where we need to be. It’s every nappy we’ve tried - Asda, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, and Pampers. We’ve just had a poo-splosion in an Asda’s size 2 which was only changed an hour ago and definitely nothing to do with the car seat since we’ve been at home all afternoon. I always make sure their bits are pointing in the right direction!

They are in 2 different sizes - twin 1 in size two (currently Asda) and twin 2 in size three (currently Lidl). They are both well within the weight range for size 2, but we thought sizing up might help with the problem. Twin 1 isn’t nearly ready to size up, he’s so little framed (6kg). The size three seems to fit twin 2 (6.6kg) well enough yet we’re still having leaks.

I just can’t understand it. It feels like every time we wash the dirty clothes they pee through again and then I’m left with more dirty clothes that could have gone in the same wash! Is there anything I can do? Rubber pants? Reusables? For twins? Is that even doable? Do I size twin 1 up even though I could practically wrap the size two round him twice! Anyone got any magic nappies that never ever leak?
Please help! From a mum up to her elbows in poop!

I found having the frilly bit of the nappy tucked inside helped rather than on the outside. Maybe try that. Aldi were the best from all the ones we tried then Asda.

I would size down again. That and check that their vests are not too tight.

Vests could be too tight. We need to sort out their 0-3m stuff which is starting to get snug and the poo-splosion today was in a 0-3 vest.

Are the nappies high enough? You want the internal gusset on the outside of the bum cheeks, but quite snug against them (keeps everything contained). Try hoiking the nappy up a bit and once it's taped run a finger down the gussets to make sure they're on the outside of the bum cheeks.

Mine always had them when sitting in something- car seat, pram, bouncy chair, on my knees.

It all ended after we weaned at 6-7 months and poos got firmer and he was also sitting up by himself.

I do wonder if it’s because they’re sat in something because of the compression. I’m not sure an extra absorbent nappy would make much of a difference in that case.

It’ll be the vests being too tight.
