19-month-old wakes from naps and mornings crying, any tips to help?

My 19 month old wakes up from every nap and wakes every morning miserable. This means both him and I start our day with him crying so loudly I feel as though I start each morning with an awful headache because who wants to wake up that way?! I guess I just want to know why hes so unhappy when I see all these other babies/toddlers waking full of smiles. Is there any tips on things I can do to try and ensure he's happier in the mornings?
He's at an age where he stops at EVERYTHING and loves to throw a tantrum and scream and shout anyway, but first thing in the morning is making me miserable also. To add to this, its waking my 5 year old up too.

Mine did this, particularly after naps, and would sometimes take up to an hour to reaclimatise. A snack sometimes helped, often didn’t. He never grew out of it, but it was a relief when he recently dropped naps tbh!

When ours did this it was because they were still tired. Is he getting enough sleep?

My 18 month old does this when he's still tired i.e. wakes at 6am or 30 minutes into a nap. I put him back to sleep, usually depending how early/late it is. Although some milk usually perks him right up.

Snacks after naps definitely help! It's the mornings that are worse, its getting me down starting every day the same way and ending up with a full blown headache by 6.30! Im more bothered about him though, there must be a reason that hes so unhappy and something I can do to help!

Mine did this but only after naps. After some researching i came to the conclusion that they were just someone who felt groggy after a nap 🤷‍♀️ im actually someone myself who would never nap (unless poorly) because i always feel awful after them as well. Sorry thats not much use to you, but a bit of solidarity for you!

The morning one is a bit odd though id be making sure nappy changed right away on waking with food and drinks offered ASAP? Bringing them into the big bed for snuggles? I'm sure youve tried it all, hopefully a phase 🤞

Honestly, it just sounds like they’re still tired. How much sleep are they getting? If you rock and soothe him for a bit will he drop back off again?

Thanks for your reply. I know what you means about feeling rubbish after a nap i am the same. I'm guessing its just a phase, but a long one 😄

Thanks for your reply. He finally sleeps through pretty much most of the time, he has about an hour and a half nap in the day and then sleeps from about 7.45 till 6am so I don't think he's still tired, he refuses to go back to sleep.
