reaching out to mums re lunchbox contents!
I feel like I’m doing the same old food in my 3yo’s lunchbox.
what do you put in your kids?
I do sandwiches, a fruit or 2, a yoghurt or smoothie, crisps or crackers…

i want something he’s going to enjoy and actually eat!

usually a combo of:

roll / sandwich / wrap - with cheese and tomato / cucumber or chicken or hummus or tuna or whatever is to hand

veggies: cucumber, cherry toms, celery, carrots, peppers

cheese in some form, cheese string, baby bel, block of cheddar/ double Gloucester etc

A piece of fruit - apple, banana, blueberries, strawberries, sastuma, kiwi etc

occasionally - crackers, crisps, a biscuit, yoghurt, small cake (if I've made something and it needs using up lol)

I always put a little sweet treat in for mine. (granted mine are older now but I did when they were small too)
Usually a sandwich or wrap or bagel
fruit or toms/cucumber slices
yoghurt
cheese
small cake or a couple of biscuits.
boiled eggs is also a hit with mine or salami sticks/chicken sticks (stick removed)

I like my kids to have a little treat in as I think it also encourages a good relationship with food.

I’ve never thought of putting veg in! It’s a great idea.

I’ve started asking him what his friends have in their lunchboxes and if he would like similar - he wanted. Yoghurt adding in.. best lunch he’s had at school- finished 90% of it!!

Ah, if they tell you off ignore them, as they aren't telling you off for smoothies etc

If I'm feeling fancy, I'll sometimes put a dip in for her veggies. Like tzatziki, or hummus, or cheese and chive etc.

Mine used to love a cheese scone. That was their favourite. Or hummus and veg / salad sticks (carrot / cucumber / pepper / celery).

A tuna roll used to go down better than sandwiches with mine. Or a sausage roll.

Don’t feel bad about doing the same thing if they like it. My mum packed me the same lunch all through school and still makes it for me when I go see her to eat on the train home (cheese sando, jam sando for pudding, grapes, yogurt and water).

For my kids a I do a little more verity, DD likes chicken or cold pasta salad with chicken and some veg in, she also has sandwiches or wraps sometimes, cake or cookie, yoghurt or sometimes veg sticks and dip. She’s not fussy and tbh will eat anything. DS on the other hand pretty much has the same thing each day because he’s fussy. Carrots (cut into rounds otherwise he will not touch them), sandwich (cheese, must be grated), yoghurt (plain), and cookies or a cake.

Oh yes cheese scones!

Also savoury flapjacks are a good one for DD.
