Baby won’t be put down or picked up?

Baby is 10 weeks old, and seems so unsettled especially in the evenings. He doesn’t want to be held and squirms, but if I put him down he also cries? What can I do in this scenario? I’m sure he is overtired or overstimulated as he is awful at napping during the day (sleeps well at night). My DS1 was not like this at all so I am struggling to know what to do!

When he’s upset in the evenings, does feeding help? Walking around? Walking around outside? Wearing in a sling?

I’d say it’s not at all unusual. I just used to feed mine. Also getting out, more challenging in the evening but during the day. Does he seem uncomfortable/in pain? How are his poos?

He could be colicky? Maybe a baby swing or vibrating chair would help so he has the movement without being held?

When one of mine was like this, I found putting her son in the dark quiet room and just leaving her to it for a few minutes solved it. I think she just got majorly over it by about 6pm and wanted everyone to get out of her face!

Have you varied the position while holding him? Mine only tolerated being held in ‘tiger in a tree’ grip, so carried her round like a rugby ball for nearly a year.

Could it be that hes squirming due to trapped wind? It tends to be worse in the evenings? Ì

My baby was like this! She’s six months now and grew out of it, what helped was infacol in her bottles and actually just putting her down in her cot upstairs by 7pm with the monitor on. We found that when we did that she went to sleep for a few hours and the crying stopped!
