11 month old vomiting on and off for weeks, can’t figure out why?!

My just turned 11 month old has been vomiting on and off for several weeks now, probably 2-3 times a week on average. It was initially happening at bedtime after her milk, but it’s started happening at other random times of the day too.

She is on formula and solids, both of which she was taking very well. We initially put it down to a cold she had, but it’s honestly been going on for weeks. She is happy in herself otherwise, but does seem to have a lingering cough / cold thing going on. I took her to the doctors this morning who thinks it’s just a reflux/indigestion type thing and said not to worry, but I’m finding it hard to watch her be sick so often - and it’s full on vomiting with solids coming up etc, not just a little milk burp.

The doctor didn’t think it was an intolerance (which I agree with as no other symptoms) but I will keep a food diary just in case I can make any links.

Has anyone had a similar experience with this? Was it just “one of those things” they grew out of, or was it a bug? She was always a very refluxy baby but this stopped at about 3 months.

Thank you - from a worried second time mum (ironically my firstborn is not a sicky child AT ALL so this has really thrown me off).

My LO had four D&V bugs in six weeks at this age (we knew they were bugs partly because partner, me or both of us caught them). It stopped as suddenly as it started, just as we and the GP were getting worried. GP came the conclusion we have a sicky baby (though not reflux!), as COVID and RSV also caused projectile (Exorcist level) vomiting, as did norovirus. It's better now a year on.

The GP was however willing to refer to paediatrics if it hadn't obviously been a series of bugs, because it might have been a dietary intolerance. And would also have referred to Paeds if baby had experienced another stomach bug in short succession.

I have six kids, one of mine did this, until they were about 13.

No other symptoms, grew, was happy, healthy, didn't appear to be allergic to anything as no matter what I fed them it had no pattern. It got to the point where being sick just wasn't an issue, they were sick and got on with their day. Had to have a letter from doctor as it happened at school but it was clear when they were just sick as suppose to actually contagious sick

Obviously keep checking for other symptoms, but it doesn't mean you have to worry.

My daughter was like this after we weaned her, turned out she can't tolerate tomatoes. I think a food diary is a good idea
