Which microfibre nappy for newborn?

My toddler wears Fluffles in the daytime, and I love them. They are supposed to be BTP, but there's no way my new baby is going to be able to wear them - they're huge. Especially not it they're a little shrimp like DS. And anyway, I only have 6 Fluffles and DS is going to be in them for a good nother 6 months (they dry so quickly that I can manage with only 6, washing every 2 days)

So I want to buy some more microfibre nappies in size one. I know they've stopped making Fluffles, what other microfibre shaped nappies would people recommend? None of the other brands seem to have the inbuilt fleece lining, but maybe that's not an issue with a non-weaned child because you have to use liners anyway? I don't use liners with DS.

The MicroDiddy look very cute, and you can nippa them up really neatly so they're good on containment, and although they're cotton jersey lined some people prefer cotton next to baby's skin for a newborn, with newborn poo it's not as if there's a lot of 'poo catching' required with a breastfed newborn
You may well still be able to get size 1 Fluffles as many people still have them (Google), was in Twinkleontheweb's warehouse over the weekend and I'm sure I saw a load of size 1 and 2 nippa variety there.

Lollipop microfleece ones are slim and good and you won't need a fleece liner - they come in cream, red and blue.

And lollipop do their own version of the fluffle which is called a softee.

Thanks, so far! Should have said, I want a velcro fastening type - can't be doing with nippas or poppers. Will investigate lollipops and old stock Fluffles. (yes, will be bf)

using Kissaluvs on DS who is 3 months. Not microfibre, but quite soft. Try kittykins.co.uk as they stock all sorts of brands and are really helpful.

Lovage, My DD has just stopped wearing size 1 Fluffles - I didn't realise they'd stopped making them. Anyway, I was thinking of selling them but don't think they're good enough to sell - no stains but not as white as they were and the inner fleece is a bit bobbly. You would be welcome to them for nothing if you want to try them, would be glad to see them go to a good home. I used them in conjuntion with Bamboozles so have some of them too.

I have several types of microfibre nappy in my trial kit and always find that mothers of newborns prefer the Lollipop Softee to anything else. It is velcro fastening and comes in three sizes (which I find quite generous) so you get a good fit for a young baby. Be warned though that they are the most bulky microfibre nappy IMO (although there isn;t much in it) - they fit fine under newborn clothes which seem to be better cut for cloth nappies () but might be a bit bulky when you DC starts to wear jeans etc.

No one has mentioned the Little Lamb microfibre nappy - these are very good, thinner fitting than the fluffle and with a higher rise than tots. The quality is quite good too - comparable to TB now.

I find the lollipop microfleece nappy next to useless, no absorbancy at all (sorry octo )

Ooh Kikidee! Yes please, that would be fantastic - I don't care about a bit of greyness and bobbliness. Are you sure you don't want anything for them? Let me at least pay postage. You could email me on rebecca dot home at gmail dot com. I've not tried Bamboozles, but if they're size one and up for grabs...

Thanks BigBadMouse, that's really useful. Are Lollipop's bigger than Fluffles? They're pretty huge but we seem to manage alright - possibly because DS is a bit of a beanpole so a big bum just means his trousers don't fall down! So as long as the baby's another beanpole we'll be okay...

I do have one Bambinex which is fine, but not as absorbant as a Fluffle, even with the loose booster in. I am lazy and plan to change them as infrequently as possible. But maybe that's not an issue with a baby? (I didn't go over to cloth til DS was 1, so this is all new territory for me)

Bigbadmouse - I used size one on ds3 and it worked fine - even overnight. It is really slim and a good daytime nappy - may be worth combining with the softee overnight. I know in the beginning the booster with the mircrofleece was useless as it was just fleece but has now been redesigned to have an absorbent layer built into it.

BigBadMouse · 17/06/2008 21:46

Octo - oopppps, I stand corrected then. Glad you told me - I assume the ones in my trial kits are the older style...not much use that is it? I'll raise it at the next nappy project meeting and see if we can get an upgrade.
