Gift for toddler who has a new sibling

My friend has a 2 year old and a newborn. She was so great to me when I had my dd and I’d like to somewhat repay the favour. I’m doing a little care package for her but I thought I might also include something for her toddler, primarily to keep her busy and quiet!

I don’t want to put my foot in it and get something that’s more work for mum, so other than a sticker book I’m a bit clueless.
is there anything that you found useful to occupy your 2 year olds when you had a newborn?

Mine loved those water books which are easy to do independently or one of those Etch a Sketchs.

The BEST thing we got was a doll and tiny pushchair

2 yrs on still going strong. You can get the pair for about £20 from argos or wherever...
Our doll was fancier i forget the brand but the doll smells like vanilla?

Dd would feed the baby and change it
.... just really lovely...!

We have this one and she loves putting the shade up and shade down!!!

We got our son a Baby Alexander from the Baby Annabel range when DD was born. Bit costly though for a friend. Toy cars? Bath toys?

LCD drawing tablet or a jigsaw.

Mine loved the bath sticker sets at this age- the foam shapes you can mix and match to make crazy animals, funny faces, dress the dolls etc.

My go to in these circumstances is a water painting set- look at the Melissa and Doug ones. A doctors set is also a good one

I always crochet blankets for new babies, & do a mini version for the sibling so she / he can use it on a doll or teddy.

I got the idea when a friend told me her toddler kept nicking the blanket I’d made for her baby.

I came to say stickers, but I see you've already got those. More stickers, you can never have too many! The water painting books a pp suggested are great too.

I'd definitely go for small things they can do anywhere (e.g. at a table in a cafe if Mum needs to pop in to feed the baby) rather than a big toy.

Maybe a nice book about becoming/being an older sibling too. Some of the Shirley Hughes ones are lovely, particularly Dogger and Annie Rose is my Little Sister.

This is genius! And so lovely
