Norovirus 13mo

My 13mo started vomiting at around 7pm last night and even if she goes 2/3/4 hours she keeps vomiting 😭 I thought she might be starting to feel better by now.

Has anyone here had norovirus recently? How long did it last for for you or your children?

A while ago since I had a baby that age but yes it can last about 48 hours. You need to watch her salt levels, she will be losing sodium and potassium. When my son was two they told me to give him electrolytes (in powder form in water) but I'm not sure if this is suitable for a 13 month old. But 'lots of water' isn't really enough and I was told that it can actually make matters worse, diluting the salts that remain. You should speak to a pharmacist or NHS101 ideally - terrible when a baby is sick when GPs are closed.

Ask a pharmacist for what is recommended for a child of this age.

You can give this https://www.superdrug.com/health/stomach-digestive-care/diarrhoea-relief/dioralyte-raspberry-rehydration-satchets-x6/p/837914

Used it when my 12 month old had rotavirus. It has a slightly strange consistency as it contains rice flour, which is partly how it reduces diarrhoea.

In hospital, they will literally give 5ml at a time of apple juice or something like pedialyte. Just keep going with small volumes, in a syringe if needs be. And if you are concerned (eg no wet nappies for hours, floppy/excessively sleepy), call 111 or go to A&E.
