You know the phase when boys move from being LOUD and BOISTEROUS, to monosyllabic and lethargic?

Could someone please tell me exactly when that occurs, because my 12 year old and 10 year old sons show no sign of ever toning it down!

There is a light at the end of the tunnel! DS1 (now 18) went from being loud and boisterous to monosyllabic and lethargic. Yesterday he had his last A level exam and last week he passed his driving test. Last night I came in knackered after a hard day at work, there was nothing in the fridge for tea, and he said "Why don't I drive us to the pub for tea?" (me, him and DS2). He did so, bought me two white wine spritzers and paid for the lovely meal out of his part-time job wages.

Now I just need DS2 to get through the grunting stage . . .

Lethargic when something needs to be done eg grass cutting.
Loud and boisterous when something is needed eg money.
My son scares me a bit when he is loud and boisterous but he does have a similar build/appearance to Hagrid.
