Balancing toddler attention with older children

Hi

I have 3 children - an 8 year old, 5 year old and 18 month old. On the whole, I've been fortunate that there's little jealousy between them, and the older two recognise that the little one needs me. However, I am increasingly struggling with not being able to do activities with the older ones, as my youngest is so desperate to be involved but ends up grabbing/breaking things or crying because they don't have me.

Any tips to help balance things out a bit more? Thanks

Do you have a partner? Can partner look after toddler for a bit while you have time with the older two?

Yes but he works long hours, so really it's more about the time where it's just me and the children.

Things like bike rides can work well. Older two can cycle and baby can go on the back of yours. Depending on how good they are at swimming that might be an option depending on ratios too. Baking but everyone has their own bowl and ingredients so that you're doing it together but the baby doesn't ruin theirs.
Overall though, it's really hard. You end up missing out on doing the exciting fun stuff that your oldest are now ready for and want to enjoy.

I have an almost 18 month old and they are hard work. I don't think there is an easy solution.

Thanks. Oh well... Let's hope it gets easier with time. I suppose it is the downside of the slightly bigger age gap.
