DS will only eat Jam on Toast for Tea! HELP!

My DS is just about to turn 4 and his fussy eating habits are driving me crazy! No matter what I feed him for his tea, he never eats it and only wants jam on toast!

He eats breakfast well and lunch well, he’s still very fussy but will eat sandwiches, carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, bread sticks, crackers, fruit, yoghurts … and jam on toast. He of course has no problem with crisps and biscuits.

occassionally he might eat pasta or pizza, but he won’t eat potatoes, eggs, any meat etc.

I worry about the lack of nutrition but I’m tired of tea time battles, if he has a multi-vit gummy am I ok to just give in and feed him a separate meal of jam on toast? And hope he eventually grows out of it??

if he’s getting a balanced diet wouldn’t stress over what food provides it.

He eats fruit and veg so is bread instead of pasta really worthwhile worrying about? I think you’ve already realised that it’s not so trust your instincts that it’s better he eats something than food becomes a negative battle for him.

Of he’s anything like lost 4yo once you start only offering toast and jam without a fuss he’ll want the meal everyone else is eating 🤷‍♀️🤣

If he’s eating well the rest of the day I’d not worry. Making it into a battle ground will cause more harm than good.

Give him on a small portion of what everyone else is eating alongside but separate from his toast but don’t make any fuss whether he eats it or not and eventually it’ll look more interesting than the toast.

One of mine went through a phase of only wanting jam sandwiches for every meal around the same age so I know the stress well but he’s an absolute human bin now as a teenager and will eat anything going

Just let him have the toast, he's 4, it's most likely a phase, I'd do toast and a new thing every day on the side for a while, a yogurt, fruit, cheese, just extras for him to try / taste.
