Portable booster seat for 2yo over 15kg (outgrown high chairs)

My DS is already 15kg but not very tall yet & has now technically outgrown most high chairs (and gets his thighs wedged in the IKEA ones 🙃). We're sorted at home with a toddler seat but we tend to be out and about a lot at restaurants /cafes/friends houses and I need something to use there.

All the portable style booster seats I've found have a 15kg max weight. Amazon has some inflatable cushion type options which could be great as I can leave one in my bag just in case, but they have no reviews and I worry they'd slide around?

I’m not really looking to restrain him – just want something to get him up to proper table height. He’s pretty well behaved when we eat out, but I can see that going downhill if the table’s at chin height and he can’t join in conversations as easily, do colouring on the table etc.

Has anyone found a solution for this other than hoping for a spare cushion? Would love any other creative solutions I might have missed!

We have foam cushions with two straps, one for under the chair and one for around the back – not as compact as an inflatable one, but lightweight, and they don't slide around. My two have used them since about 18 months, so should work for your two year old unless he's very short.

Mine just kneeled at the table at that stage, we didn't carry anything spare around. My son started hating highchairs at around 16 months so from then until he was about 3, he kneeled, and now he's 4 and sits normally.

Is he just on the edge of 15kg? If so then i'd just use the one's for that weight range. I think 15kg seems to be when they stop testing it but more of a guide - i'd usually think that 15kg is more a 3/4 year old though

Yeah, he's just on the edge so I would be happy using something we already had.. but after he got stuck in a restaurant high chair I started looking at the booster seats and reluctant to buy something he's already outsized for.
