Potty training

My DS is 2.5. I potty trained him 2 weeks ago or so. He goes to nursery and after a couple of days of accidents there, he’s now got the hang of it and has no accidents. At home however, almost every time he needs to go, it’s an accident.

I have tried to be proactive but every time I put him on the loo (ie before we leave the house or if he’s looking like he needs to go (moving a lot etc)), he screams and goes stiff so I cannot put him on. He then 2 mins later will have an accident sometimes.

Sometimes he will go partly and then finish on the toilet after telling me but today was a full day of accidents and I’m finding it hard to not get frustrated. Has anyone else had this? How do I deal with it or is it a case of sucking it up and waiting?

No advice here but following for tips, little girl is similar age and we are in the same position, lots of accidents. More so at nursery than at home. Also started 2-3 wks ago.

Sending solidarity, it’s very hard work!

Keep him naked on the bottom
half at home and a potty in the room he is on some puppy pads.

Our oldest did this. It took longer to potty train her than our other child but she got it within a few weeks (the other child was a few days!). I think I would also go back to less clothing indoors and having a potty very near and giving him a bit of control saying things like "I can tell you need a wee; when you are ready your potty is over there" then pretend to do something else or walk away. If you see him going or he wets himself get him to the potty anyway.

My youngest reacted very badly to being prompted by us to use the potty. The more we mentioned it, the more he refused and we got accidents. We had to just leave the potty in a corner and he'd sneak off and use it when no one was watching.

Is he definitely using the potty/toilet at nursery or is he just holding it in until he gets home?
