Baby isn’t babbling at all at 7months

Literally nothing, screeching sometimes and says gu, blows raspberries a lot, that’s it. I’m starting to worry so I guess I’m looking for some reassurance.

Baby will be fine. I’ve found the milestones to be taken with a massive pinch of salt as it causes unnecessary worry in parents even though hitting them slightly later is completely developmentally normal for the majority of kids. I’ve been though this with my eldest who didn’t babble until he was over a year old and was late with all other milestones. I worried for ages but at 4.5 now I can’t get him to shut up and he appears to be very typical against his peers. My DD was much earlier to babble but not by 7 months either.

Speech & Language UK have a very simple progress checker here which might be worth doing. It can be overly cautious though so even if it says that they need some support, it doesn’t necessarily mean that there is anything to worry about Flowers

I think seven months is very early. I know the books have it that early but literally none of the babies at group were babbling at that age. Think you can hold off worrying until baby is at least 9 months.

My daughter didn't babble at all. No baby talk at all. She had 100 words at 13 months and has been talking in full sentences for a while (she is nearly two). I don't think you need to worry. 7 months is very very early.

Did you manage to do the progress checker @Bethymum?
