What hours do you work with nursery/school age children?

Just that really.

Two kids one in nursery and one in primary. So far we have got through with grandparents mainly, but it would be interesting to hear what others do and what works well. Finish latest for both of them is 4.30.

I work 10 hours a week but spread over 5 days and mostly after school hours (I'm a tutor). My husband works full time.

I drop our daughter off at school and she's at after school club 4 days a week. Either me or my DH picks her up depending on when my lessons finish.

I work 9-1, 2 days a week wfh. It's my own business so I can be flexible, and I usually don't work in school holidays (I will when youngest is old enough for holiday camps). Financially I have a passive income so I don't need to work more hours. We oniy use school and holiday camps/clubs for childcare, no wraparound or family help.

No family help. Split drop offs/pick ups 50/50 with DH. I work four days spread over five, so can drop off at 8.30am and pick up at 3.15pm x2 per week. DH very flexible so he does standard drop off and pick ups x2 too and then makes up the time either on my pick up days or in the evenings. One day per week DS does breakfast club 7.30am and activity/after school club till 5.30pm so we can both work a full day. We have flexibility in that school allows impromptu breakfast/after school club attendance, but we try not to do that often as DS gets so tired on a long day.

It works for us. We feel lucky we get a fair bit of time with DC. But we both have demanding senior roles. We constantly feel like we're letting the side down somewhere. But then again, as the saying goes, the days are long but the years are short, worth it.

Mine are 9&10 now and are aging out if wrap-around care.

Ive finally conceded and moved to school hours term-time.
