Any ideas? Party theme Mickey mouse

Also can I put mini packs of chocolate buttons or party rings in for this age group or will I have people worrying about sugar.

Put sweets in - it’s a party bag. Stickers, bubbles, snap bands, bath bombs, those wee face cloths that you put in water and they expand, balloons, the balloons on the elastic band that you can hit, plastic jewellery. Avoid anything choke able or with a button battery but otherwise…it’s meant to be fun so put in fun stuff. Dividing up a pack of glitter pens can be cost effective. I’d go for what you like - don’t worry too much about what other folk
think. Enjoy making it.

Most plastic party bag stuff breaks within days and is fairly useless. You can get a load of kids books from The Works for very little if you want a party bag alternative. Proper ones, not the little multipacks or miniatures.

I think biscuits or similar are fine, maybe not Haribo type stuff. Stickers? In my son’s ones, we ordered a job lot of kids’ sunglasses from Amazon. They were super cute and still going strong 2 years later, still see the kids wearing them. I hate tattoos but the kids love them…Bubbles?

No balloons. Choke hazard, children suck them when trying to inflate.

I think I got packs of coloured chalk or colouring pencils etc at that age. Not tat but cheap and cheerful (from a supermarket, so not branded). Then, yes, a few sweets and a bubble blower.

Mini reading books
Buttons
Stickers

I had DD’s party last week. I ordered 3 packs of these books. I found a discount code for 10% off and postage was cheap. I paid £16.47 for the 30 books. I just wrapped them all up individually in our party theme wrapping paper and gave them out with a small bag of sweets each.

Honestly, party bags mostly go straight into the bin here and I feel so much guilt because I hate necessary waste, but you get given the same thing week in, week out at parties that it becomes a bit much.

Tattoos - they love those.

We also did little tubs of Playdoh (can get a multipack on Amazon) which were the favourite part for most of the kids.

Don’t worry about chocolate; any allergies will be communicated to you in advance. Otherwise, if a parent is so neurotic or health obsessed that they can’t let their kid have a tiny bag of Buttons at a party, they shouldn’t attend.

Bubbles always goes down a treat. As does stickers and temporary tattoos. My daughter liked when she got a curly drinking straw in hers once. My son is never happier when there's a bouncy ball in his bag. Absolutely put sweets in!

MayeJane4 · 20/01/2026 23:44

Thanks everyone. For sweets would you go buttons?

sounds tasty! If your DC likes buttons - go for it.

Agreed. My kids decided there would be a small bag of Haribo and a lollipop in their party bags. But we've had buttons, Freddos and miniature heroes (but not the eclairs!) in previous received party bags.

My DS loves a twix…so twix it is. No one else will care what sweet it is but your kid will be delighted to see a favourite.

FoxtrotOscarKindaDay · 21/01/2026 00:17

Last year we did bubbles, stickers, miniature colouring books and pencils and mini flashlights in bags with a cupcake. They had plenty of sugar at the party as it was a camping theme with lots of toasted marshmallows and melted chocolate.

Disney stickers would be perfect for Mickey Mouse theme.

ADHDFocusedLife · 21/01/2026 01:48

For a Mickey Mouse party, use red, yellow, and black decorations, Mickey-shaped balloons, and a Mickey-themed cake. Activities like face painting or crafting Mickey ears would be fun!
Mini packs of chocolate buttons or party rings are fine, but you can offer sugar-free options for balance.

Strawberries4days · 21/01/2026 08:53

I would do Mickey mouse themed tattoos, masks (dinosaur or anything, kids loves masks) a fidget toy, a packet of sweets, bubbles and birthday cake wrapped up after singing happy birthday.

I got my squishy fidget toys from temu as it was a big party. Apparently a big hit!

We went recently to a party and they had just a mini box full of sweets and a packet of crisps. DD loved it! Honestly, just whatever you think the kids would enjoy!
