Pampers Vs Huggies

Which brand do you use? Ds is 11months, I have always used pampers but huggies were on special offer so gave them a try, Only used 2 nappies so far but not impressed.

This morning I found crystals on his bum, it looked to me like the nappy did not keep the wetness off his bum as much as pampers do.

If you have tried both what do you think?

definitely Pampers, i find huggies even look wetter from the outside way before pampers do.

I get caught by the offers too and then wonder WHY?!?!

mummyrayjay · 13/06/2008 10:48

Well i suppose i had to try them at some stage but i think ill stick to pampers in future.

I love the blue huggies. Not the red for some reason, they do leak and leave the crystals. My DD who is 13 months gets a rash from Pampers, its the green lining thing I think.

boots own brand or tescos own brand, much cheaper and i found they were as good as pampers if not better!!! Huggies were a brand i never got on with!

nickytwotimes · 13/06/2008 10:51

Asda's own work best for Ds. Huggies weren't up to much. Pampers are too dear!

mummyrayjay · 13/06/2008 11:00

Oh might try other shops own brands then, maybe just a small pack at a time tho as I know ds has a sensitive little bum...

I don't like Huggies either, they kept leaking so I use pampers.
Have been tol by quite a few people that Boots own are rubbish too.

Seona1973 · 13/06/2008 12:36

huggies also left crystals on my dd's bum so never used them for ds. I use pampers or tesco's own. Havent tried other own brands except for Boots newborn ones and they did ok.

isaidno · 13/06/2008 12:40

Tesco are great; try all the own brands - most are fine. with pampers / huggies you are paying for adverts and cute pictures.

mummyrayjay · 13/06/2008 17:26

I really thought own brand would be really rubbish. I was very suprised to find that huggies were rubbish as they ae the same price as pampers.

Both are fine, I think Huggies are a slightly different shape - slimmer in the crotch if you will, which depending on your LO's shape either works or doesn't. I buy whichever is on offer TBH, I worry about getting overdependent on one type as we travel a lot.

Marne · 13/06/2008 18:00

Pampers, i do buy huggies if on offer but i find dd neend to be changed more often. We also use tesco's when we are skint, they are better than huggies.

choufleur · 15/06/2008 19:52

Alsi's own (if you have one near you) are just as good as Pampers and vastly cheaper. I'd alsways used pampers with ds (apart from a few experiments with Huggies which i didn't like) until a few months ago when i got Aldi's. Potty training now but wish i'd known about them sooner and saved quite afew quid.

i think it varies though between boys and girls. Boys tend to wee more at the front and girls more at the bottom (sorry no pun intended)

finallydoneit · 15/06/2008 19:53

i prefer huggies, they fit ds better!

meep · 15/06/2008 19:57

Boots own - they contain the poo so well and you can get 140 for £12 - need I say more? (I have a good chum to thank for the tip and dd's bottom has never looked back!)

finallydoneit · 15/06/2008 19:58

what? 140 for £12 what sizes do they go up to? ds wees alot!!

mummyrayjay · 15/06/2008 20:14

oh i really need to try the cheaper brands

Another vote for Tesco's own. £6.97 for about 50 size 4's. I wouldn't go back to the big brands now, imo they're better than both Pampers and Huggies.

VictorianSqualor · 15/06/2008 20:39

Tescos own here too.

meep · 15/06/2008 20:45

size 3 - but they go up to size 5

here

finallydoneit · 15/06/2008 20:52

huggies do 82 for a tenner

Mikafan · 17/06/2008 13:06

I think basically, all this thread shows is that all our babies are different and different brands suit different babies.
