i am breastfeeding and I’ve gave my 12 week old a dummy to give me 5 minutes to myself ! Baby is constantly on me 24/7 and seems to settle with a dummy!

any advice? Should only give dummy at night time? Should I give it as and when ? Or should i not give in to the dummy?

worried it might also effect clustering ?

I'd give it as and when if it works. Feeding should be well established now so I don't think it should cause a problem. Keep an eye on it. If you think it's causing more problems than it solves then reduce usage and take away.

I used a dummy pretty much from birth and fed for almost 2 years so I can’t say it affected breastfeeding. I would say it stopped her sucking for comfort. Dummy was primarily for sleep but obviously a bit more present when she was tiny. From 6-ish months onwards it was for sleep and if I had extensive pram time to keep her settled and to help her doze. She dropped the dummy completely at 2 and a bit and her teeth are perfect. I was super strict with the dummy once she started to talk so she only ever had it in her bed so it didn’t interfere with speech.

I would thank heavens that your breastfed baby takes a dummy. You don't need to worry about teeth etc until 6 months and then you can get strict to bedtime only.

I spent a total of £100 on every single type of dummy out there and my baby rejected every single one. He did take to a random expensive one for about 2 days and that was that.

I was the dummy.
