Picky eater always hungry

I’m finding that my picky eater is constantly hungry because he doesn’t eat the right food.

What are some tips and success stories for expanding my DS11’s safe foods?

He won’t have most things that would fill him up like a cheese stick, chocolate milk, hummus, any fruit other than apple. He won’t have sauces.

He does a lot of crisps, cereal bars, etc. and will eat mostly all meat. Do I just keep cooked chicken breast on hand for him to eat after dinner if he’s still hungry?!

Home made flapjack etc if he likes plain cereal bars
Can experiment with diff toppings and get him involved
Or do those choccy cornflake cakes
Does he have yogurt? Frozen yogurt bark
Cold pasta salad in the fridge and I'd always have meat available
Chicken drumsticks in the fridge
Boiled eggs, the Korean soy sauce eggs are really tasty if he likes salty
Seaweed crisps
Home made crisps from potato w just salt not terrible and fun

I probably wouldn't let him snack too much in-between meals tho so he is hungry for main meals. But I see nothing wrong with some meat or a bowl of cereal between meals especially if he's growing and a healthy weight

Chicken katsu curry is nice with rice and interesting as Japanese. I used to try different world cuisines to expose my picky eater to new forms of their favourite/modt tolerated foods. Can be worth a try. Greek flatbreads with chicken and the yogurt Tzatziki dip on the side

He should be able to get full with that list of foods. Is it more the problem that he leaves his dinner and asks for snacks later? That's pretty much all kids if they think they can get away with it.

I'd stop offering any 'treat' snacks. Give him three good meals. Always give him the option of putting what is left in the fridge for later, so he can have when he feels hungry. Offer a small selection of healthy snacks that are unlimited (apples, carrot, chicken breast for example). Save treats for treats (not snacks when you're hungry).

Why do you keep mentioning chocolate milk?

Does he drink milk?
he has dry cereal?

No fizz, no squash, no hot drinks?

Edited

He does have milk in his cereal. I keep mentioning it bc I feel like it’s an easy way for kids to drink milk.

Is he ND? Your use of the term “safe foods” suggests that he is. Because that is different to being picky.
