looking for a bit of reassurance and advice.
my baby is about to turn 7 months and I’m so scared about weaning. she’s been on purées for about a month and we have one of them dummies that you put fruit in but I’m so scared about giving her actual food.
please tell me some of your weaning stories

Why are you scared? We did a mix of BLW and purees, I gave DS chunks of food from the beginning (I was going back to work at 7 months so I needed to know he was taking actual calories which is why I also did purees). Slowly transitioned from purees to chunky purees to real food by 9 months.

Babies have their gag reflex further front so actually they have less chance of choking now. They're more likely to choke later when you're suddenly giving them bits to eat.

Solid Start app is good.

Explore solid starts website, app and Instagram account. This should give you some more confidence, especially the gag vs. choking information. Gagging is actually a really important reflex because it protects the child from choking if they put too much in their mouths so its good to let them explore. Something like a rib bone with most of the meat stripped off which they can mouth and chew but not choke on is a really good start. Solid starts will help you with how to prepare hundreds of foods for the child's age.

Totally get you OP. I found weaning scary, but we went at baby's pace and at nearly 10 months now he would happily sit and eat all day if you let him.

No need to rush off the purees. We were using those through most of months 6-7, with some easy finger foods like toast, banana, carrot sticks and broccoli.

Gag reflex is scary but remember it is protective.
