Trigger warning nappy rash

Hi. My LG is nearly 4 weeks she has awful nappy rash, have been to GP and got some anti fungal and antibiotic cream but is no better. I have been doing nappy free time, also swapped her nappies and cleaning with just cotton wool and water. Tried lots of creams but just gone back to sudocrem now as some others seemed to be making it worse. Can anyone give any advice? It’s awful she screams every nappy change. Thanks

Metatanium (yellow tube) would have been your saviour but I understand this has been discontinued since my kids were small.

Weleda gets a good reputation for nappy cream. Cream that includes zinc too.

Perhaps try Vaseline as a barrier at each nappy change and change more often.

It's horrible when they're upset!

Bepanthen was similar but not as good as metanium cream, might be worth a try. Poor baby, looks very sore.

I seem to remember something about cold teabags too? Maybe camomile?

It could be the wipes and or the nappies. my Gson can’t use wipes other than Aldi , comes out in a rash

not sure if your little one is breast or formula but…

we have just been through this. 6 weeks of nappy rash that was not going away despite every cream (prescribed and over the counter), warm water and cotton balls, different nappies, nappy free time. The rash was getting worse, looked like broken skin and so so sore. Even worse after using sudocrem. Everyone had different advice on how to manage or treat it. It was absolutely horrible and heart wrenching. I dreaded nappy changes.

Our baby was pooing a lot or passing wind constantly - despite being on a hydrolysed formula as suspected CMPA earlier on. Therefore her skin could never have the time to heal. We asked GP for completely dairy free formula (neocate) and the rash has cleared in 4 days!!!! We also use just Vaseline.

I made a note to come on here and comment on any posts about nappy rash as I was googling and looking on here all the time for answers.

Sending hugs - hope you find the reason soon xx

She’s breast fed. She also has terrible trapped wind and was inconsolable last night. She vomits quite a lot as well. Thanks for commenting

sorry you had a difficult night 🌺

Ah ok, you could try removing dairy from your diet and see if that helps? If you’re happy to that is.

please also keep going back to GP and or health visitor. There are lots of things they can consider and discuss with you to try.

My little one was also getting a terrible nappy rash from constant mucus poos. I used yellow Metaniun followed by a layer of Lanisloh nipple cream on top as a barrier. That kept it sort of under control but it has improved further since giving up dairy and soy (also suspected CMPA/CMPI).

yes good suggestions, our GP also recommended this nipple cream and also medihoney.
