Party time on a Sunday?

Im planning a party at a softplay venue for my DC 3rd birthday

Parents out there - which time would you think is best?

Sunday - 10am arrival (softplay 1.5 hours and lunch at 11.30-12)

or

Sunday - 12pm arrival (softplay 1.5 hours and lunch at 1:30-2)

10am

10am so they can sleep in the car on the way home. They're going to be struggling without a nap otherwise.

Although I will say that it sounds like a bit too long for that age group and maybe an hour of soft play followed by lunch is enough.

10am. Most 3 years have been up since 6am so they start getting whiney after lunch

matchboxmum · 02/01/2026 15:36

10am so they have the rest of the day to themselves. I hate plans in the middle of the day.

Mushroo · 02/01/2026 15:37

10am. Or 2pm but the midday slot is awkward

Edited

I think often these places only offer 2 hour slots but I agree with you. For 3yr olds - 1 hour play plus half an hour for food

Op I hope your dc has a wonderful birthday! 🎂

I’d prefer the later slot as older ones have morning activities that require juggling but it’s not a strong preference. Either would be fine.

mindutopia · 02/01/2026 15:43

Both are fine, but I’d prefer 10am. Basically as long as it’s not 6-8pm.

On a Sunday the latest I would want is 4pm. Definitely nothing over 12-2 period. But every family is different, have siblings, routines etc so at the end of the day do what is best for you and your dc and others can either attend or not. Don’t overthink it.

BuffaloCauliflower · 02/01/2026 15:49

12 would work better for my about to be 3 year old, but our day do tend to run later than other families. She hasn’t napped in nearly a year so not a factor here, though my older child would have still been napping

hardtocare · 02/01/2026 15:50

10am but I wouldn’t bother with the lunch. Just have some drinks and crisps to offer if they get thirsty

Petalpedal · 02/01/2026 15:53

DCs have morning activities at 10am so we'd prefer 12pm.
