How do I get my toddler to stop snatching toys away from her baby sister?

DD1 is 22m, DD2 is 6m.

I feel like I'm constantly handing back toys that DD1 has taken away from DD2. Every time I say "No, DD2 was playing with that, you can have it when she's finished" but it doesn't seem to sink in.

Any tips? Or do they just grow out of it at some point?

you just have to constantly say 'no, that's not nice' and give it back to the baby.

It will sink it eventually, but it does take time. Don't give up!

If she has snatched it roughly, hand it back and remind her that her sister was playing with it and to be kind.

If she is just taking them away from the baby, let it go sometimes. She is still very young and the baby probably doesn't mind.

Maybe you could play a game where the baby gives her some toys and she learns to say thank you - it might encourage 'sharing and caring'

DD2 is just starting to mind. She used to just look startled, now it will quite often make her cry..

Good suggestions, thanks..

When my no.2 was born, a friend gave me a very useful tip which I have been using with great success ... although I have to say that my older DD was 3 years old then.

Basically, teach your DD1 to hand DD2 something else before taking the other item back. That way, DD2 is momentarily distracted by a newer item, hence loses interest in the one she's holding and therefore, DD1 is able to simply take it off her hand.
