Best next to me crib? (with side kept down)

Can anyone recommend a good next to me crib where you felt safe to leave the side down at night whilst sleeping? I’m aware that it is not recommended anymore to keep the side down so don’t need advice on safe sleep. I co slept with my other children but partner is very adamant he doesn’t want me doing it again so thought this would be a good compromise.

Whatever the Ikea one is called now that you can convert into a cot bed. Take side off and adjust height wise and for gap to fit your bed. Used that for about 18 months each with my dc.

I don’t think they make ones like that anymore, I think it’s would be against the current safety standard? So I think your only option would be a standard cot where a whole side can be left off in the assembly process.

We had one very similar to this for DS1 when he was a newborn. He kept rolling over and getting his head stuck underneath the bar when the side was lowered. I took the thing to the skip.
We had a Tutti Bambini model after that, it was a much safer option with the mesh sides rather than a bar.

Had a snuzpod (4?) for my two, was brilliant. ☺️

My youngest is 21m and I didn't realise things had changed/it wasn't considered safe to sleep with side down now! I also safely coslept with my second at time in line with guidance.

With snuzpod the gap isn't big enough for adult to fall in to pod and baby can't roll out of it on to floor / bed whilst the cot is attached to the bed. Mine was always down so I could lift baby out during night to feed easily. Was only up when I moved her out of my room occasionally away from bed to nap.

Only downside is that they were snug from around 8 months. I kicked mine out to their own room from 6ish months in line with minimum recommendations but I've had friends get different brands as they are apparently a bit longer etc. With second I also coslept a bit with the snuzpod next to the bed empty so I knew she couldn't fall out of bed and I was only adult next to her as per safe sleep guidelines. ☺️

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I will look into them. I actually did put my older children in a cot bed with one side off when they were older (as it took a while to get them into their own rooms!) so I don’t mind if the crib doesn’t last past 8 months ish as I could always do that again if I need to. Just don’t think she’ll settle in a cot sized bed at first when she’s so little

The bedside cribs available on the market now must all have a 15cm lip (so the mattress is lower than your mattress) and it’s fine to sleep with the side down. The advice hasn’t changed in that regard.

We had tutti bambini - it had mesh sides. We never took the sude down but I think you could. Worked well for us

Thanks everyone 😊 I don’t know why but I was finding it overwhelming looking at all of them so this has helped me to shortlist

I went through the same checklist while prepping for our nursery, and having a solid crib buying guide made it way easier to compare safety features and avoid last‑minute scrambling. It helped me figure out timing, measure everything, and grab the conversion kit before it sold out. It’s nice having all that info in one spot instead of trying to piece things together.
