Play ideas for an active 3 year old with a broken elbow

My three year old is super active and sporty but has now broken his elbow. He usually needs to be running around active for a good proportion of every day. Obviously now everything other than a sedate walk seems to be out. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks

If he needs to be active I would try and get him out and about as much as possible. Walking as briskly as is safe! I'd do the beach or forest if you have either locally so there is no temptation of a playground, but enough spotting/collecting things to keep interest. You could do an aquarium, museum, farm, library, gallery. If you can't tried him physically I would try for mental stimulation instead!

He should be ok to kick a ball around in the garden/park. Maybe you be in goal and he takes penalties.

You can get really good covers for casts that makes swimming possible.

At home, crafts, imaginative play, have some friends over...

DD did hers when she was 5 and we pretty much carried on as normal with everything she could do. She won the cup for the most points at sports day with the cast on. We were in a hot country so got the cast covers for swimming which were a godsend.

They adapt to the cast quite quickly and I think it's hard to do much more damage. I'd draw the line at horse riding or climbing frames but most things should be ok.
