Double pram versus two buggies?

If you have a newborn and an older child still requiring a buggy do you use a double pram or a two buggies for family outings? We have used our Out N About double for the playground but not sure how we could manage going to a cafe or shopping with it as most places barely have room to manoeuvre a normal buggy. Would you use two buggies in this situation instead? I don’t want to put newborn in a sling as I am prone to bad back and neck pain and husband needs to be free to carry other stuff if needed.

We preferred 2 buggies but it depends on your routines really. We spend all weekend together as a family so there is always one adult to push a buggy, but if you sometimes have one parent going off to spend time on their own it won't work. For us it was definitely more convenient as we use public transport a lot, need to take buggies on the escalators on the tube and we live near some narrow paths and small shops/cafes. We had a double but I only used it during the week when DH was at work, and I'd only take it to places where I could walk the whole way or certain train routes which were accessible, so it was much more limiting.

How dependant is the older one? As in, do they still tire easily and sleep in the buggy or would a buggy board work? That said, my eldest was frequently found curled up in the basket 🤣

We had quite a few all second hand for different scenarios.

We used a single pram with buggy board.

Thanks all for the responses! I guess we will have to work out what works for us. I don’t think a buggy board will work for us as the older one has some mobility issues and tires easily and really needs to sit down properly when tired. She does still nap when at home so it’s possible she will need to nap if we were to do a whole day outing.
