5.5 month old won’t nap in crib

His contact naps were becoming shorter and therefore I thought I may as well try to transition him to crib sleeping for daytime naps. However despite trying white noise, sleeping bag, diff methods etc he has never done longer than 10 mins and usually wakes up immediately. I have tried just leaving him for a long time to see if he falls back asleep, I’ve also tried just patting him etc but nothing is working. I don’t know whether to just try again in a month because im now getting concerned that he’s consistently getting barely any daytime sleep. I don’t know what to do,

I would just do whatever works at this age to get the sleep in and the gently practice alternatives for every other nap, my daughter went through a phase around this age where she would only get a good stretch of sleep in the pram so I would do a long walk so she’d had a good nap and then for the next nap you can re-try the crib :)

Mine would never nap alone in cot.

Usually I walked him in pram to nap. On good days he would fall asleep and I could bring him back and wheels him into garden by back door so he could carry on snoozing in fresh air, whilst I made some lunch or had a quiet cup of tea.

Often I just walked though for an hour, he napped, and he woke on return.

The mistake was probably getting him used to contact naps in the first place. We put our child down for naps in his crib since day one. If he ever fell asleep on us, it was a straight transfer to the crib/cot.

I’m sure that’s super helpful to the OP.

Oof. You can tell you’ve never had a DC like mine 😂

And never had a second child. Parents usually have the smug beaten out of them by a subsequent child who doesn't respond the same way to their 'superior parenting'.
