How to use frozen breast milk?

I have some frozen breast milk (frozen recently) to use over Christmas whilst out and about. If I buy a cool bag, put the frozen milk inside and take it out with me, will that be ok?

Then if I need to use it, can ask for some hot water to warm up / finish defrosting and use immediately… or does anyone have any other tips?

Is it frozen in the little plastic milk bags? If so that should work fine as they have a large surface area and should defrost pretty quickly. I had a Tommee Tippee portable bottle warmer (basically just a thermos with a big lid you could use to stand the bottle in) which could be handy as then you don't need to be somewhere that can give you the hot water.

Bring a flask of hot water that you can sink the bag into. Personally, I’d thaw the day before, not straight from the freezer. Breastmilk isn’t like formula. It can be left at room temperature for hours and it can stay in the fridge for days. I’d take it out the night before so it’s thaw before you leave the house.

Can anyone recommend a little cooler bag with ice packs for taking out and about, we’re going out for Xmas lunch, I’ll breastfeed whilst out but have a toddler so will want to bring some expressed milk for others to feed baby whilst I run around after toddler!
