Playmobil

Hello, I have two boys, who have recently turned 2 and 6. They have a ton of Lego and Duplo so was thinking of getting Playmobil for Christmas. I am not that familiar with Playmobil - is it smaller than Lego? I’m undecided whether I should get two sets - the 123 brand for my youngest and a standard set for the eldest, or a joint larger one to share - the hotel one looks cool. Any other recommendations- they like shops/buildings etc rather than cars/animals. My 2 year old plays with Lego and is generally ok with handling small pieces and not putting things his mouth so am thinking it may be ok to skip the 123 Playmobil - any thoughts?

Our kids loved Playmobil, more so than Lego at that age.
We have the hotel, which still seems to be the current one and it was much loved. But favourites were the school and the campervan. The girls liked the house.
One caveat is there are lots of small fingernail sized pieces - pens, cutlery, food and so on. Although there are equally tiny pieces in Lego.
I feel Playmobil has got left behind a bit recently which is a shame.

If he is fine with small lego, then I wouldn't worry about playmobil.

My son is a bit younger than your oldest and loves it. You know them so just get whatever themes that resontae. For my son it was castle + pirates. He got it last Christmas and we have had many an epic battle over the year.

Get a good storage box ready for all of the men + little bits... because they will get everywhere.

Also, you can never have too many of the people, and the sets often don't come with a huge number. So what I did was to get him a set (I think it came with 2 people) and then you can get individual "lucky" boxes that have one man in.. they were really cheap, and made good stocking fillers, without having to buy more and more big sets to get a decent number of people to play with.

We love Playmobil in our household. Dd 9 and ds 6. My dd got the school about 5 years ago m, my son the farm the year after and they still play with it. She got the playground set for Xmas, and ds got dinosaur keeper set this year and has been much fun adding to what we had already. They got loads more children characters which they love!

It lasts forever. It’s different to Lego as much more about the role play and story telling. The school doesn’t really pack away so the other sets we’ve gone for are made up of smaller bits that they can throw in the tub when finished playing. It comes with lots of very small bits so worth thinking how you will store it.

Hope you found a good set in time for Xmas and that they loved it 😊
