Head bump to nearly 3 month old

Hi guys. So I’m such an anxious person (been referred for high intensity CBT since having my baby) so yesterday afternoon I was putting my bag back I. The car after going shopping but as I’ve gone to put him in his car seat I bumped his head on the rubber bit of the car. (Such bad mum guilt, I’m the worst mum for doing this! 😭)
He’s got a bump to the right of his crown. (Did ring 111 for advice after it happened, they advised monitor at home) he seems okay in himself acting his normal self was playing on his mat and smiling and drinking all his bottle etc.
I think I’m just looking for some reassurance and someone to tell me I’m not a really bad mum for doing this to my 11 week old 😭😭(12 weeks tomorrow)
Also what do I do now? How long should I worry for? Like I said I have major anxiety and am really beating myself up over this 😩
(please be mindful and kind - FTM) currently sat here crying about it after feeding him. (He still seems okay)

Hi OP. Accidents happen. If he is well, drinking and wet nappies don’t worry about. Normally they say 24 hours close monitoring with a head bump.

And you are not a bad mum

He’ll be fine. Dh fell down the stairs with our eldest when she was about 24 hours old. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve donked them both in the face dropping my phone on them during a feed. Didn’t even think to ring 111.

Often concussions in children lead to vomiting. Dd once was spinning in the kitchen, fell and hit her head on the radiator. She was sick and we just had to keep an eye on her throughout the night.

He sounds absolutely fine. And you are not a bad mum.

You're absolutely not a bad mum. Babies are a lot sturdier, than we think they are!

My husband enthusiastically sat down next to me and accidentally elbowed our week old baby in the head. The baby didn't even wake up, but I burst into tears and sobbed for about an hour...

We hit our daughters head on door frames a few times, when she was about 14 months old I hit her on the head with a bathroom radiator. Ours have both had the car door a few times. They’re fine, if they weren’t we wouldn’t have survived as a species.

I some how managed to bang my seconds head in the car door. He was more 2/3 but omg. I did take him to A&e, but he was fine. You've done the right thing. Baby will be fine x

Thank you! I think cos he’s got an actual bump to his head has made me panic! He has been fine since has drank all his bottles over night! I’m just scared cos of the actual bump on his head. I’ve googled that it’ll go down within a couple days to a week? I just feel awful that I’ve done this to him 😭

Aww yeah I think it’s cos he got an actual bump on his head. His dad dropped his phone on him when he was a few days old and he wasn’t bothered but it’s cos of the visible bump that I’ve panicked over 😭 but he’s not shown any signs of concussion which is all we got told to watch for

I really hope so! I’ve got awful health anxiety and like I’ve said in the post am getting therapy to try not put any of my anxiety onto him 🥺

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s banged their child’s head then. Thank you! I just didn’t think he’d get an actual bump cos I didn’t think it was that hard but he did cry straight away and fell asleep on the way home. But he was already tired and falling asleep as we got to the car to put him in. I just didn’t realise how big he’d gotten 😩 I’ll be so on edge the next time I put him in the car now 😳
He seems fine in himself it’s probably just my anxiety taking over. I just want his little bump to go now 🥺

It’s so scary isn’t it! I wanted to go straight to the hospital with him but my partner said he’s fine so we rang 111 for advice instead and they just said he sounded fine as he’s not showing any of the signs of concussion and to monitor at home! I just feel awful for his little head. I know he will problem get many more as he gets older and gets into everything but I caused it so am really beating myself up for it 😭

Yeah he seems fine in himself and did pretty much after it happened. He slept on way home and then on me for a bit when we got home. He cried when he woke up so that worried me but then he had a feed and seemed happier. He played on his mat for a bit then go tired again so fell asleep. But when he woke had his bottle and played for a while again and gave smiles and stuff so all seems normal. I just panicked when he was sleepy but my boyfriend reminded me he’s a baby and that’s what he does. I think it doesn’t help that he’s also teething so that could also be bothering him 🥺
