My DD is 12 months old and since starting nursery 2
months ago, she’s been picking up all sorts and was really healthy for a full year when she didn’t attend anything. We’ve never had to take her doctors until these two times we’ve been this month.
We always wait 3 days of fever before we contact the doctor. First time, doctor wasn’t sure if it was viral or bacterial but was worried it might end up with pneumonia so gave us a course of amoxicillin.
This time she was spiking a temperature of 39.9 after 3 days and the out of hours (he was a paramedic!) said her ear looked red and she kept pulling away so he wondered if she was in pain and gave her course of amoxicillin. I was worried she had some sort of UTI.

I am so worried about these multiple courses antibiotics! I’ve ordered some Optiobac probiotics drops. Not sure what else I can do?

She was so distressed yesterday and I just couldn’t leave her looking like that. I only give her calpol or Nurofen when she has a high temp as I try to let her body fight it naturally too but after 3 days both times, she looks defeated and goes off food and drink hence why I end up calling the doctors.

She only goes nursery 3 times a week. Will it get better? Anyone else had multiple antibiotics when they first started nursery and then stopped?
Anything else I can do to boost immune system?

Why are you worried about antibiotics? Just sure she’s getting enough fluid. The fever is her immune system working… and her getting ill is making her immune system fight bugs and get stronger.

Children get sick. That’s how the immune system builds itself up.

Make sure she eats a good diet with lots of varied fruit and vegetables, lots of water, enough fats and protein.

Dc3 spent the first 8 years of life on antibiotics continuously the doctors used to tell me not to worry because the effects of the illness is worse for the body than the effects of the antibiotics. Dc is 16 now and still has more antibiotics than the majority of teens but had no ill effects.
Its totally normal for dc to get lots of illness at this age. I find it always spikes the first year of changing settings.
A good diet, plenty of fluids and then if needed prebiotic, vitamins etc will help.

I just feel like she’s constantly poorly and it’s giving me anxiety
