17 month old fell and hit face

My little girl has fell and cut her lip/gum😩 it was bleeding quite badly when she did it (which I know mouth injuries do) and stopped after a couple minutes. Her teeth look fine and I’ve given her some calpol however she won’t let me get a good look at it. Should I ring 111, take her to GP, see the dentist or just keep an eye on it? Clearly I am a first time mum here so some guidance would be appreciated😅

Usual disclaimer that I’m not medically trained. I’m a parent with too much experience of mouth injuries (don’t ask 🤣).

If you want her to see someone, it would be a dentist you’d take her to.

My hunch is they wouldn’t do anything.

If the root/nerve is bruised or damaged, the tooth may discolour. If only bruised the discolouration may fade after a few weeks. if she knocked it hard enough to kill the nerve (unlikely), the discolouration would be permanent until she loses the milk tooth, but they’d prob still just leave it.

They would tell you to keep her mouth clean and keep a careful eye for the next few weeks for any sign of an abscess in the gum above the teeth. If that happens you do need to get her seen.

My money would be on it healing perfectly fine and being invisible within a few days though OP.

One more thought: if you haven’t already registered her with a dentist, now’s a good time! The earlier they get used to going, the better and easier it is for them to get used to it and not be afraid.

Keep an eye on it and see a dentist if it doesn't look right.

Toddlers hurt themselves quite a bit, it's horrible.

My son fell (on MY watch), relatively gently on a soft floor and bit through his tongue with his tiny sharp teeth at 11 months. Now THAT was some bleeding. Like a horror film, off the charts, I was covered in blood. He was fine.
