Offensive or not?

Throwaway question- would you be offended if another parent called your child "a bit heavy handed" when playing with their child? For context 7 month old was crawling around and might have tried to hug other child but ended up falling over. Also tried to grab her pacifier. Their child did cry a few times but this was the case even when he wasn't touching her, just nearby. Other child is not at crawling stage yet but is sitting.

Why on earth would it be offensive?

Kind of meaningless to call a 7 month old heavy handed but they also shouldn’t be left to topple on or grab things from a non mobile baby

unsure hence the post! Just seemed like a strange comment at the time to be making about another person's child

I don't think it is offensive. Just a meaningless comment really.

I assume your child is the 7 month old? If they are mobile enough to do this to another child I'm afraid it is kind of normal behaviour for many newly mobile babies and you just have to keep up with them from now onwards to prevent it happening once they look like starting.

My DD wasn't mobile at 7 months, but became so before she was a year old. Once she did she would crawl up to other babies and steal the dummies out of their mouths! 😲 Wouldn't have a dummy of her own (refused it), but wanted theirs. I just used to have to keep going after her if we were out at somewhere like baby and toddler group to stop her. It sometimes happened at nursery too, so they just had to keep watch on her and the phase soon ended.

It sounds accurate from your description of events.

If it's any help, about 99.9% of babies are heavy handed. Babies don't really do delicate. You'd have to be trying really hard to be offended by this.

I might have said something like that as a polite way of saying your supervision was a bit light so step up!

Thanks all for the responses. So it seems I'm being a bit over sensitive and will take that on board. Funnily enough I was told by said parent to sit down when trying to intervene!
