Hi,

The weather is gorgeous and I'm going to buy a pool for us to sit in outside.

My DD is 5 months old. Do I still need to warm it? If so, What temp. I haven't really got any shade here so can I just put suncream on her? Should I chlorinate it or can she just go in with plain water.

I want to take her in naked (big 6ft fences) but again i'm worried bout the heat.

Anything I've missed?

Consider buying tarp to cover it over night and when you aren't using it or the birds will help themselves. Sounds like a great idea

I was thinking of emptying it each night anyway. Or as close to everynight as I can. I don't want to waste water but I don't like the idea of her going into standing water (covered or not)

Tap water is fine if refreshed daily. You could fill from hot + cold tap. Just a brief dip really for 5month old, as she mustn't be in sun long so I wouldnt worry much about temp.

Ok - So as long as she's only in for say 1/2 hr at a time she'll be ok?
Should I put suncream on her? I've got some special babystuff that says ok after 3 months and is waterproof.

Hi Lucky- you can get little pools (ideal for your DD's age) that have a built over sun shade, or get a cheap gazebo thing (£20 or less from DIY store)

At her age cold tap water would be too cold IMO, so add some hot. Babies need a certain amount of fat to keep warm but should be ok at 5 mnths for 30mins or so.

Oh, I'll have a look into that then, all I can find are "normal" pools. Cheapest is best but if I can find a sunshade one, then that'll do. lol

Can I just use a kettle of hot (we have to physically put the hot water on and it costs a bomb) to take the edge off it?
