Toy buggies for boys - your DP's view

DS (2) has a pushchair (not pink) which ranks up in his top 10 toys. DH has no problem with this. However, having seen a friend's little boy playing with the buggy I suggested I buy him one for his bday. I got a text from her this morning saying absolutely no way as far as her DP is concerned is their son having a toy buggy - lawnmower would be fine. What do your DP's think? I really struggle to understand how playing with a buggy is going to affect my child's sense of masculinity, other than maybe to put in his subconscious that actually dad's do play a part other than mowing the lawn?! Would be interested to know what the general consensus on this is.

I wouldn't give a flying one.

Our DS is a proper boy at the mo, into diggers, motorbikes, cars. I have no idea where he's getting it from.

Buggies and baby dolls here for our DS. Though it has to be said he now stages sieges on his castle using the dolls (got a bit older).

DP never had an opinion either way, my FIL once commented that he had a lot of "girls" toys but we just pointed out that he often saw men with babies so it was perfectly natural to him!

Got to be careful about catching the gay!

One of DS1's friends had a lawnmower instead of a buggy for such reasons - and it was a f*ing nightmare - really hard to push and the little boy just wanted my DS's buggy instead so it caused rows. Next time don't ask the parents, just buy. Its a fab present.

I like that he thinks wearing pink taffeta need not be an impediment to operating a trebuchet!

My ds had a red/blue elc toy buggy at around aged 2. It was his fave toy too.

Now a the grand old age of 6 he would not be seen desd pushing a toy buggy so it means nothing

ds - 19 months - also loves the blue elc buggy. I'm sure he would have loved th pink one too! All the little boys around here have them! Agree that this really is a bit strange.
