Drop night feed?

Hi! My 10 week old is sleeping 9pm - 4:30am. I was wondering if anybody has any tips on how to drop the 4:30am night feed? I don’t really mind it as originally she was sleeping only 3 hour stretches but I just wondered! X

Newborn babies need regular feeding. I wouldn't drop any night feeds into well established on solids.

Agree with @Greenllama123 - 10 weeks is tiny. If she’s waking for it she needs it. 9-4.30 is a great stretch of sleep. Is she going back down after the 4.30 feed?

Oh no I definitley wouldn’t drop it on purpose! Sometimes she only has 1oz in the night but in the day she’s having 5oz a feed! So wasn’t sure if she was waking up out of habit. Thank you for replying. Xx

Thank you’ yes she’s having around 1-2oz a small feed compared to 5oz in the day! Yes she goes back down :) thank you for replying! After reading some forums I wasn’t sure if it was habit. Il definitely keep giving her the night feed until she’s stops waking. X

You can't drop a night feed at that age

i won’t drop it! Her sleep is unpredictable at the moment which is expected for her age! Some nights she’s doing 9-4;30 and then some nights 4 hour stretches again. I’m still learning as I go along being a first time mum :) thank you for replying. Some nights she’s in active sleep so I turn the egg lamp on to pick her up to feed then she falls back asleep bless her and other nights she’s wide awake looking around the room, :) x

@esunny Sounds like she’s doing well and is doing exactly what is expected at that age ☺️. they’re funny little creatures to be honest 😂 My DS is now 5 but I remember some nights when he was really tiny he’d be wide awake at like 3am just looking around but didn’t seem hungry or anything 🫠 And other nights he’d wake and feed for literally 2-3 mins then be done and drift straight back off.
She’ll settle into new sleep routines as she hits new stages ☺️ it’s constantly changing as they grow. My 5 year old is currently in a “I like to get into mums bed but will only sleep upside down with my feet in her face” phase 🫠😂

Aww thank you. I’m a FTM so it’s a learning curve! I read forums all the time on how some 8 weeks + babies sleep through the night so I have no idea whether that’s normal or not?! I’m still feeding whenever she wakes but 9-4:30 is an amazing stretch. I was worried at first when she first did it !

she does the same ! Stares in one corner of the bedroom 😆 she’s smiling now so seeing her smile at 4am is sooo worth it.

the 5 year old phase sounds fun 🫠

@esunny It’s definitely a learning curve ☺️ I only have the one so am by no means a parenting expert - and I was like you and read every forum going 😅 but I will say that looking back on it now, it’s the one thing I wish I didn’t pay as much attention to 😊 I was obsessed with milestones etc.

My friend has a little boy a couple of months before me and honestly, they could not have been more different in terms of development.

Hers slept 7pm-7am from 12 weeks old - mine only ever slept in 3-4 hour chunks at most until he was about a year.
Mine was confidently walking at 10 months - hers didn’t walk until 17 months.
Mine took to solids like a duck to water and was eating everything - hers was a much more selective eater.
Even now - mine loves numbers and is a whizz at basic maths but trying to get him to do anything with letters/spelling etc is like pulling teeth - hers is the complete opposite and has zero interest in numbers but is fab with letters etc!
Both completely “normal” in terms of development - just very different!! But comparing the 2 at each stage one always felt very behind compared to the other.
